Herman Vanhoutteghem

In searching for your current address, Gaby and Herman, we were saddened to learn of Herman's passing last April. You both were such good neighbors in Coppet, and Herman was always so much fun, often arriving for dinner with us next door in his jalabiya, so lively and always so positive. Joie de vivre certainly captured his essence to the core: and living life on his own terms. We so much enjoyed you both. And your generosity extended to loaning us your entire house as the "residence" for my entire family during our September 1980 wedding in Geneva. How very thoughtful. And our young son was so happy have "bequeathed" his pet turtle to your children when we left Coppet for Manila, Philippines. We would love to communicate with you further using our private email, especially if we also had yours in Uzes. Condolences too to Valery and Nicholas. Fondly, Diane and Gregg

First of all I wish you, of the bottom of my heart,  all my deepest expressions of sympathie .
I was chocqued when I heard the bad news . Never thought of this even whenHerman was not so well anymore .
I keep al the good memories of his visit at my place , but most of all the nice hollidays I had with Simonne at your place Uzes . What a wonderfull time we had .
Both of you were so good , friendly and we felt so comfortly all together when we had our aperotime round the swimmingpool .
Thanks again for the warm friendship we had and have . 
I hope that all the good memories of Herman can give you ,Gaby and family,
comfort during this painfull time of sorrow.

Hermaneke... une page se tourne.. pour ta famille et nous...les Curvers de Belgique... je ne saurais être présente vendredi .. mais je serai là.. d'esprit.. Mon enfance et surtout ma jeunesse s'est construite avec toi , Gaby , ta famille.. tes enfants ... Valérie et Nicolas .. on a vécu tant de moments forts, imprégnés, joyeux, de confidences, d'amour et de rêves... Les liens de l'amitié fidèle, bien veillante,.. sont ici tellement forts... Que le manque est si grand pour moi.. et en ce jour, il l'est encore plus...     ( je me revois et m'entends projeter tous les souhaits qu'on s'était dit de réaliser petit...et non accomplis....) c'est ainsi ... Je vous embrasse ! Je vous aime tant!  Courage ! Je n'oublie rien.. Herman est dans mon cœur... 💫♥️

Dear, Dear Gaby, Nicholas, and Valerie my heart goes out to you and your extended family for your days ahead 💔. As an uncle he was exceptional in so many ways! My thoughts are full of all the precious memories of his humour, his dancing, his handsomeness, his joie de vivre (!), his kindness, our conversations, his stories, his outlook on life and the way he lived it ❤️❤️❤️❤️. From visits in Canada, our road trip to Mount Blanc with Uncle Paul, being welcomed in Coppet while backpacking thru Europe,  his visit to Lyon while I was there, filling in as an paire after Valerie was born and the 3 months of being part of the household, and then spending a wkd with my own 2 little ones in Tannay, and later the wonderful visit in Uzes with you all with Hilde, Yacoba, and my youngest daughter, Meghan....  All these memories are full of joy and love and I look forward seeing you with a warm embrace in June to share in the sadness of him not being there but still feeling his closeness then and always! May all the wonderful memories of what a special person he was and what a privilege it was to have him in our lives give you strength and courage through this difficult time.
